Former National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research (Niwa) chief executive Paul Hargreaves has been appointed to the Chair of Antarctica New Zealand, which is the Crown Entity responsible for developing, managing and administering New Zealand's activities in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean.

Southern Cross Healthcare has appointed John Feyter as chief actuary. Feyter was, for five years, company actuary for Royal & Sun Alliance Life and Disability (NZ), and is a fellow of the New Zealand Society of Actuaries and a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

Jeff Smith is Flight Centre's (NZ) new general manager of its product division, responsible for all areas of the company's wholesale and product-related businesses, including marketing, advertising, finance, Infinity Holidays and the Ticket Centre. He will be based in Auckland.

Rothbury Insurance Brokers has appointed Jeff Briggs as Auckland branch manager and commercial broker. Briggs has 16 years' industry experience, three of which have been at a senior level with an Auckland-based broker.

Century Yuasa Batteries (NZ) has appointed Stu Stanners to the position of national key accounts manager. Stanners had previously been general manager at Auto One Parts and Accessories and is an executive of the Automotive Parts and Accessories Association of NZ.

Oracle New Zealand has appointed two sales people and an Oracle Collaboration Suite consultant. As technology account manager, Kieran McCaul will drive sales of Oracle infrastructure solutions in Wellington and the South Island. Callum Ross re-joins Oracle New Zealand to drive sales of business applications in Auckland. David Sharp joins the company as a project manager and consultant for the Collaboration Suite business team.
