Melissa Fincham has been appointed to a new full-time position within Hewlett-Packard (HP) New Zealand as education programme manager. She has been instrumental in leading the Technology for Teaching grants programme at HP New Zealand, which has seen HP contribute around NZ$700,000 during the past four years.
The New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) has appointed Olympian Robyn Wong as its team services manager. Wong, who was the first New Zealand Chinese athlete to represent New Zealand at an Olympic Games and competed in mountain biking at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, will work alongside Jake Wilkins providing logistical support to Chef de Mission Dave Currie and Secretary General Barry Maister.
ISPANZ (the ISP Association of New Zealand) has elected a new board. Incoming President Jamie Baddeley will be joined by Graham Walmsley - Callplus (vice president), Jenny Longhurst - ICONZ (secretary/treasurer) , Steven Bond-Smith - Orcon, Mark Frater - Compass and Kim Thibault - Maxnet.
Phitek Systems Limited has made two senior appointments with Rick O'Connor as vice-president of sales and marketing and Chris Powell as group financial controller. O'Connor was most recently chief technology officer and vice-president strategic marketing for Tundra Semiconductor Corporation in Ontario. Powell joins the company following a career with companies including Du Pont (New Zealand), SGS New Zealand; Digital Equipment Corporation New Zealand; Kerrick Industries and Inland Revenue.
