The University of Auckland is bringing together music, dance, fine arts, visual arts, architecture and planning in one faculty of creative arts and industries. It has appointed Professor Sharman Pretty, who is principal and dean of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, as dean. She will take up the position in January.

Jane Kennelly has established Frog Recruitment and been appointed managing director. Kennelly was previously general manager for TMP Worldwide's e-Resourcing and Lampenalectus Recruitment businesses. Chris Robson has been appointed job-seeker manager at Frog Recruitment. He previously headed TMP Hudson's IT candidate recruitment team.

BMC Software (New Zealand), a provider of enterprise management software, has made two senior Auckland-based appointments. Mike Davies has been appointed BMC Software New Zealand country director, replacing Paul Williams, who has been appointed Asia Pacific director for business service management.

Sinclair Knight Merz has made several new appointments to its New Zealand Heavy Industrial and Power Engineering Business Unit. Dr Richard Fairbairn has joined the SKM Auckland office as a senior electrical engineer. John Barlow has also joined the Auckland office as a senior electrical designer. SKM's Christchurch office has gained senior electrical engineer Geoff Cardwell. And John Moulin has joined the Invercargill office as an electrical engineer and project manager.
