Steve Purvis has become Woolworths' national operations manager, heading fresh produce retail operations across all 84 Woolworths, Big Fresh and Price Chopper supermarkets and also the new Woolworths at Gull mini and convenience stores.

Barry Robinson has become produce operations manager and procurement facilitator for the central region of the North Island.

Chris Mallett is the new director of research and development at Fonterra Cooperative Group. He comes to Fonterra via the New Zealand Dairy Board, which he joined last year.

The holder of a doctorate in chemistry from Oxford, he has held leading roles with Unilever and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Australia.

Among the staff at new business consultancy Great Outcomes is director Giles Potter, who has led several financial services marketing developments.

Ross Lockwood (associate) has experience in project management, change management, process/performance improvement and call centre installation.

Rowena Orange (associate) specialises in call centre set-up and people-focused environments.

Darlene Richard (associate) has been involved with direct marketing and phone-based marketing.

Dr Kevin Novins has joined the University of Auckland's faculty of science as a senior lecturer in computer graphics.

He was a senior lecturer at the University of Otago.
