Chrystal Pedersen has been appointed account executive on the ASB Bank account at Tequila, the direct marketing partner of advertising agency Whybin\TBWA. Returning from nine months overseas, Pedersen has previous experience with Singleton Ogilvy & Mather.
Fairfax Magazines has promoted Melisa Sinclair to the position of advertising manager for Cuisine magazine, responsible for overseeing advertising budgets and growing revenue. Sinclair was with NZ House & Garden magazine for 10 years, most recently as national sales manager.
Kate Frances has been appointed schools co-ordinator for TelstraClear Pacific, the new multi-purpose events centre being built in Manukau City. Frances, who is a trained secondary school teacher and has also taught English as a second language, will be arranging school trips to the construction site and putting together resource material for teachers to use in the classroom.
Mike Yeoman has been promoted to the position of chief executive of Alstom's Transport Group in New Zealand. Yeoman is responsible for managing three contracts to maintain Tranz Rail's locomotive and wagon fleets, and Auckland's Tranz Metro passenger fleet. He has been general manager of Alstom since August 2002. Brian Fearnley has been appointed as business manager of Alstom Transport Group's Hutt Valley workshops. He has spent almost three years with the Civil Aviation Authority, most recently managing the regulation of design and manufacturing organisations.
Sony has appointed Martin McManus as director of Sony New Zealand, effective from February 1. McManus will be the first New Zealander to head Sony New Zealand. In the past, this role has been held by Japanese nationals.
Alec Campbell, former counter terrorist adviser and explosive disposal expert for the British Ministry of Defence, has joined engineering and environmental professional services company URS New Zealand as a senior electrical engineer. With a masters in building services engineering, Campbell will work across a range of assignments including hazardous area and building services projects.
Arlene Ross has joined New Horizons Computer Learning Centre as general manager. She will be responsible for day-to-day management of its Auckland and Wellington centres. Ross previously worked in management positions with the ANZ Banking Group.
