ING has appointed Rebecca Thomas as chief investment officer, based in Auckland. A barrister, she replaces David McClatchy, who now heads the firm's investment management operation in Australia. Thomas has 15 years' experience as an analyst, fund manager and CEO.

Dell has appointed Derek Leitch as country manager. Leitch, a Dell and industry veteran with 20 years' experience in IT sales, marketing and management, joined Dell in 1995.

Geoff Thorn is now general manager of the Commerce Commission. He joined the commission in 1994 as an investigator. Previously he was the manager of the special investigation branch in the Royal New Zealand Military Police.

Law firm Minter Ellison Rudd Watts has appointed Russell Hay as its CEO, replacing Tony Caughey who will remain in a consulting role until next year. Hays was a partner at Deloittes for 24 years where he was, among other things, regional managing director for the outsourcing practice for Asia Pacific Africa, based in Hong Kong.
