Gardening and heating company Masport has appointed Mark von Batenburg to the position of chief executive officer. He has previously held senior roles with Bremworth Carpets, Skellerup Flooring, Invacare Australasia, and most recently Paykel, where he was CEO for the past two years.

Auckland-based international yacht spar and rigging manufacturer Southern Spars has made three senior appointments. Michael Baillie, previously general manager of Moore Gallagher, has been appointed manufacturing manager. Ilan Graetz has been appointed international service manager and Steve Cotton New Zealand rigging manager. Graetz and Cotton have completed the Volvo Ocean Race, with Nautor Challenge and News Corp, respectively.

Rachel Jones has been appointed to general manager, Think Appliances, a newly formed division of Applico Group. Jones was most recently national advertising manager of Flight Centre.

The New Zealand Lotteries Commission has reorganised its Wellington Head Office, appointing new personnel to key management positions. Helen Morgan-Banda is to join the commission as head of communications; Evan Lawrey has been appointed head of marketing; Anita Rushbrooke has been appointed head of sales; Wayne Pickup will join the commission as head of distribution and innovation; Julie Comber has joined as marketing manager Instant Kiwi and instant ticket games; Steve Macaulay has been appointed as IT manager, gaming system; and Steve Macgregor becomes IT manager corporate.

The Southern Cross Group has appointed April Walker to the position of general manager information systems. Walker was previously IT services manager for Clear Communications.

James Chatterley (pictured above right) has been appointed as general manager sales and marketing for BTI NZ. He has extensive experience in the tourism industry, previously leading the sales and marketing teams at the Six Continents Hotels with responsibility for New Zealand and the South Pacific. Jackie Forder has recently joined BTI in a newly created role of business development manager for Auckland. For the past two years she ran the business support division at Robert Walters.
