Flight Centre has appointed John Southgate to the newly created position of chief information officer. Southgate has spent the past 17 years in the travel industry in a wide range of roles, before moving into the IT manager position at internet travel group, which was acquired by Flight Centre.

Jim Veitch has been appointed to general manager with Giesen Wines. Veitch has wide commercial experience, previously holding senior executive positions in the retail/food and wine industries, including roles with MG Marketing/Dole, DB Group and Progressive Enterprises.

Minter Ellison Rudd Watts has appointed Jennifer Mills as a partner in its national human resources and industrial relations team. Mills has 12 years' legal experience.

Maggie Kerrigan has been appointed public relations director at Fresh Media following the merger of her boutique public relations firm, Kerrigan PR, with the Auckland-based corporate communications strategy and production company. A former journalist in New Zealand, Britain and Africa, Kerrigan began her public relations career at Air New Zealand in the 1980s before moving to Los Angeles for 10 years.

Martyn McColgan has been appointed terminal operations manager at the Port of Tauranga, effective December 1. His role will be to manage the day-to-day operations at the sulphur point terminal. McColgan previously worked with P & O Cold Logistics, where he was distribution manager for the Bay of Plenty and at Toll Logistics where he was the South Island operations co-ordinator.

The Events Centre has appointed Adam Leslie as event manager for New Zealand, responsible for organising conferences and events for businesses within the group. Leslie comes from Staging Connections where he was event services manager based at Auckland's Hyatt.
