Simon Hunt has joined URS New Zealand's Auckland office to fill the newly created role of Asia Pacific remediation practice leader. Hunt has particular expertise in soil and groundwater assessment and remediation. URS has also appointed Warren Sharp as senior environmental planner to its Christchurch office. Sharp specialises in contaminated site assessment, remediation and hazardous substance health and safety.

The building division of Beca Carter Hollings & Ferner Ltd will now be jointly led by the current business line general manager, Jon Williams (general manager building services) and Mark Spence (general manager building structures). Bryce Whitcher will continue to lead the industrial group and Dan Mara has been appointed general manger power systems, formalising the acting role he has filled since October last year.

Richard Bartley has been appointed finance manager/financial controller of gourmet burger chain BurgerFuel. Bartley has ten years of experience in a variety of commercial accounting roles. He has also been employed in strategic project and implementation roles in companies such as Coca-Cola Amatil New Zealand and the Bank of New Zealand.

John Green, has been elected president of the Arbitrators and Mediators Institute of New Zealand Inc. Green is an experienced construction adjudicator, arbitrator, mediator and director of Building Disputes Tribunal (NZ) Ltd. He succeeds David Williams QC to the position. Terry Stapleton, a Wellington Barrister, was elected vice-president.

Robert Lee has been appointed sales director of IT technology and services company Theta Systems Limited. Lee has many years experience in senior roles in the IT industry, including Oracle, Data General, HP and Clarion.
