KEY POINTS:
* Farm improvement company, LIC (formerly known as Livestock Improvement) has appointed Lloyd West as its regional manager to manage the company's sales team in Southland. This promotion follows an extensive history with LIC in roles which span the spectrum of its business - genetics, information and sales - in both New Zealand and the UK.
Carmel Hood is LIC's new corporate lawyer. Previously she was a commercial and property lawyer with Hamilton based lawyers, Harkness Henry and Co, after working with Fortune Manning in Auckland in commercial/personal affairs. She also gained experience in the UK as a tax consultant with Deloittes working in the oil and gas industries.
* Trans Tasman law firm Minter Ellison Rudd Watts has announced the appointment of Mark Weenink, as its new managing partner in New Zealand. Mr Weenink is currently head of legal for Challenger Financial Services Group (Asset Management Division) in Sydney. Mr Weenink succeeds the retiring CEO, Russell Hay.
* Sue Hagenson has been appointed manager of LIC's FarmWise Consultancy business. She has extensive experience with the farm improvement company - ranging from reproductive technologies, sire proving and, more recently, as a member of the FarmWise team. She has a Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Science with Distinction and a Bachelor of Agriculture. Sue Hagenson heads a team of 20 FarmWise consultants based around New Zealand.
* At its recent AGM Dress for Success Auckland elected Judy Whiteman as president. Existing board members Andree Atkinson (Treasurer), Liz Lyons, Chris Latimer and Belinda Moffat (Secretary) are joined by new board members Julia Dol, Peggy Molyneux and Helen Dodd.
* Fairfax Media has appointed Stephen Smith to the position of group head of digital. Prior to accepting the Fairfax Media position, Stephen headed Vodafone's media and entertainment operations.
* Jake Downing has taken up the position of general manager for the Falkland Islands Tourist Board. Prior to his appointment at FITB, Jake was visitor services manager for Tourism Auckland. Jake has now moved to the Falkland Islands for a two year contract.
* Fullers Group Ltd has appointed Lucy Farrington as the company's marketing communications manager. Farrington, originally from the UK, has previously held positions at software companies in London, New York and in Auckland at Zeacom, and also WinScribe, where she was international marketing manager. Prior to this she spent three years in on-board operations with P&O Ferries in the UK.
* Chapman Tripp has appointed two new partners within the firm.
Matt Carroll specialises in construction and commercial property law. He has been with the firm since 1999 when he joined as a solicitor.
John Knight is a dispute resolution lawyer with broad experience of commercial and resource management disputes. He joined the firm 10 years ago.
