Movers & Shakers

Engineering and environmental professional services company, URS New Zealand, has appointed several scientists and engineers to its project teams. Joanne Koppel, a civil and environmental engineer, has diverse project experience and is a specialist in solid waste. Civil engineer Tarek Raghib, has just completed a bachelor of civil engineering degree at Auckland University. New faces on the geoscience team include environmental engineer Helen Oliver, geoscientist Craig Noble and geologist Erin Hollinger.

Simpson Grierson has appointed several new senior associates. Thomas Biss joins the corporate team specialising in private equity and venture capital transactions. James Blair also joins the corporate team specialising in public company advice, securities insurance and mergers and acquisitions. Daniel Kelleher brings his commercial property experience to the local government and environment group. Gervais Laird has been appointed to the intellectual property group.

Hamilton-based research company, Pharmacybrands has appointed Alan Wham to the position of chief executive officer of the pharmacy company. Wham is managing director of 3M Pharmaceuticals in Sydney and is also the company's regional director for Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. He will take up his new appointment in October.

Jane Kara has joined Elan Wellington as business manager. Kara has worked internationally, holding senior positions in the recruitment industry and recently as senior consultant with Sapphire Technology.

Tania Witheford has joined online accommodation specialists, Wotif.com, as head of its first New Zealand office in Auckland. Witheford has more than 15 years' experience in the travel industry including five years with Six Continents Hotels as sales and business development manager.

P&O Cruises New Zealand has made two appointments to its Auckland-based staff. Shannon Currie, formerly corporate sales manager for Malaysia Airlines, has been appointed business development manager of P&O Cruises. Angela Smith has been appointed to the position of business development executive. Smith was formerly sales manager for Accor Hotels.

Versus Research, has appointed Robyn Crozier as research director. Before joining Versus she was senior research consultant with Auckland-based NFO New Zealand, formerly CM Research.
