David Comery, formerly the general manager of the Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre, has been appointed general manager of the new Spencer on Byron Hotel in Takapuna. Joining him is Craig Fenwick as executive assistant manager, Chris Houston as rooms division manager, Renere Reid as catering sales manager, and Alan Meyler as chief engineer. Well-known restaurateur Warwick Brown is executive chef, and Terry Holt is inbound sales manager. Odette Stevenson is corporate sales manager.

Paula Sullivan has joined Norris Ward McKinnon as a solicitor in its employment and family law team. Sullivan was admitted to the bar in 1996 and has been in practice for the last five years with Child, Youth and Family. Douglas Cherry has joined Norris Ward McKinnon as a solicitor in the civil litigation team. Cherry has most recently been employed as the district court judges' research counsel for the Waikato and Bay of Plenty district court benches.
