Barfoot & Thompson has appointed Brett Clarkson as branch manager of its Waiheke Island branch, which will open in Oneroa next month. Clarkson joins the company with 15 years' real-estate experience in Auckland and Christchurch.

Drake New Zealand has promoted Taz O'Toole as the company's Wellington branch manager.

Michael Johns has been promoted to international sales manager at Zymus International. He was previously technical business manager of Zymus, which operates in the food, beverage and industrial processing industries.

Minter Ellison Rudd Watts has appointed David Gilbert as a partner to the law firm. The company's Anna Rawlings has been promoted to senior associate.

Dr Ian Parton, chairman of Maunsell's New Zealand operations has been appointed president of the Institution of Professional Engineers.

Ballance Agri-Nutrients has appointed David Pilkington as a new independent director. Most recently he was managing director of New Zealand Milk Limited.

Property advisers DTZ has appointed Jon Chomley as chief operating officer. Chomley has worked in the property industry for 18 years in areas such as valuation, agency and development.

Law firm Kensington Swan has appointed four partners. Peter Missingham specialises in mergers, acquisitions and disposals. Patrick Mulligan acts for commercial and local authority clients, David Campbell is experienced in resolving disputes in corporate law, insolvency, insurance and maritime law, and Greg Blanchard specialises in commercial and insolvency litigation.

Carat New Zealand has appointed Michelle Lawson to head its strategic brand and communications division, Carat Connect. Lawson joins the firm from Pharmacybrands where she was general manager for the Unichem brand for the past three years.

Vanessa Preece has been appointed business development manager for design consultancy Gibson Rusden.
