Simpson Grierson partner Denis McNamara has been appointed honorary consul of Mexico. He will be the main contact for the Embassy of Mexico in Auckland, Northland and Waikato, with responsibility for promoting Mexico's interests in the upper North Island. NZ exports to Mexico more than doubled last year to $440m, making it New Zealand's 16th-largest market.

Brian Murray has been appointed trade promotions manager at the British Consulate-General in Auckland. He has previously held positions with Access Brands, Wilson Consumer Products, Salmond Smith Biolab and Cadbury Schweppes. He replaces Greg Mitchell who left for the United Kingdom in September.

Infinity Group's Murray McCaw (pictured) is to step down at the end of this year to pursue other business interests, but will join the company's board. He is chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union. Stuart Robb, the chief operating officer of Infinity Solutions, will take over as chief executive from New Year's Day.
