Richard Aitken, Beca Group chief executive, was promoted to Distinguished Fellow of The Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) for his contribution to the advancement of engineering practice in structural engineering and engineering management in New Zealand, and the application of engineering and technology in the community.
Almost all of Aitken's working life has been spent with Beca, initially as a structural engineer, then as a director, and most recently as chief executive. He has been responsible for the growth and development of structural engineering for both light and heavy industrial sectors in the company.
A leading DLA Phillips Fox funds management and superannuation partner has moved to DLA Phillips Fox New Zealand's Auckland office. Sue Brown, formerly a partner in DLA Phillips Fox's Sydney office, has acted for a wide variety of significant financial institutions and superannuation schemes in both New Zealand and Australia. Earlier, Brown was a partner with DLA Piper in the United Kingdom, where she acted for major superannuation schemes.
Dr. Peter Stöeveken has joined international professional services company GHD as principal transportation planner. Most recently based in Germany, Dr Stöeveken was managing director of the Centre for Integrated Traffic and Transportation Systems (ZIV), a subsidiary of Fraport Agm (owner-operator of Frankfurt Airport and associated operations), DB Regio German Railway and RMV-Rhine Main Public Transport Authority.
Rob Adamson joins Tauranga based Braincell Creative as business development manager. Adamson's background includes international business development and marketing until recently when he sold his shares in his IT business in Tauranga. With over six years in the IT and creative media sector, he has partnered with national and multinational companies such as Acumen, Burson Marstellar and CEL.
Market Pulse International has appointed Greg Cate as chief executive officer. He joined in 2004, having returned from five years working in the UK. His most recent role was chief operating officer.
James Harwood has also joined the company, having been appointed as sales manager Australasia. James was previously with Sony as national sales manager and has over 20 years experience in senior retail roles.
Harcourts New Zealand has appointed Sarah Taylor as its new national events and sponsorship manager. Before joining Harcourts Sarah worked for Vector Arena where she was responsible for implementing event management systems. Prior to that she had four years at Wellington Convention Centre where she managed a wide range of events held in the TSB Bank Arena and was also involved in the major events team which handled events such as the Montana World of WearableArts and the NZI International Sevens rugby tournament.
Wotif.com has increased its local team, with the appointment of David Callan as market executive and Angie Wong as market coordinator.
Callan joins Wotif.com with over 10 years industry experience, having worked in reservations and revenue management, most recently with Marriott and Accor in New Zealand and Australia.
Prior to joining Wotif.com, Wong held several roles in hotels, starting as a receptionist at the Holiday Inn in Kuala Lumpur over 20 years ago, to her most recent position of group reservations supervisor for Intercontinental Hotel Group in Auckland.
Theta Systems is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracey Ellis as test analyst. She brings with her over seven years of experience in insurance and utilities sectors.
Theta Systems has also announced the appointment of Ian Faigao as a PowerBuilder developer. Faigao has more than six years' in software design and development specialising in PowerBuilder and a track record of delivering quality solutions using a range of different technologies.
Kiwifruit and Avocado supplier Apata Limited has appointed Cassandra Thurston as its communications manager. She previously worked for kiwifruit marketing giant ZESPRI International Ltd as communications advisor, focusing on industry and internal communications, and website development.
