Flight Centre has appointed Dina Heylen as area leader for South Auckland. Heylen has been with FlighthCentre for eight years, initially as a travel consultant before becoming assistant manager and then manager of the Howick Flight Centre.

Auckland's Ascott Metropolis hotel has appointed a new managment team. General manager Stephen Read has spent the past 14 years based in Indonisia as general manager in three separate positions, most recently at Country Woods, South Jakarta. Director of sales Rowena Howe was previously based om Sydney as key account manager for the Ascott Group. Rooms division manager Nicole Lawson was previous at the Sofitel Melbourne for three years.

Otumoetai College associate principal Dallas Collett is the new head of education and humanities at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic. For the past year Collett has been on secondment to the Minister of Education in an advisory role to schools in the Bay of Plenty region.

Owen Services BOP has appointed John Ellis as group technical manager. Ellis was previously a scientist with Forest Research, specialising in log scaling and plantation measurement.
