The Hilton Auckland has appointed Andrea Linton as marketing and communications manager. Her most recent job was with Tourism New Zealand where she worked predominantly with the North American media on the Tourism New Zealand 100% Pure campaign.

Harkness Fellow Dr Marie Bismark has joined the health law team at Buddle Findlay. Dr Bismark will work with Buddle Findlay partner Dr Jonathan Coates as senior solicitor.

ACE Insurance has appointed Michael Poole as managing director, following Scott Pickering's appointment to CEO of ACE Insurance, South Africa. Pool was general manager of ACE's Thailand operation, before returning to New Zealand in April last year to take up the position of northern regional manager. Matthew Noy has been appointed northern regional manager. He joins ACE from Pacific Retail Services.

Auckland IT recruiter Agility Group has appointed John Hart as a senior consultant. Hart has previously held senior roles with both Candle and Vision Recruitment, and has worked in the IT industry for more than 10 years.

AGB Nielsen Media Research has appointed Claire Harris as executive director. Harris has been working with the company for seven years, two of which were spent in Australia leading the client service team.

Tony Woodhouse is the new commercial partner at law firm Carter & Partners. He will be handling commercial and construction law and has more than 17 years experience. He was most recently a partner with Woodhouse Partners.

Specialty chemicals manufacturer New Zealand Pharmaceuticals has appointed food and dairy industry executive Graeme Milne as independent chairman.

Jo Hayman has joined recruitment firm Momentum in Auckland as a senior IT recruitment consultant.

Natural Habitats, an Auckland-based landscape design and build company, appointed David Howie as its general manager last month.

Veronica Strang, a specialist in environmental anthropology, has been appointed Professor of Social Anthropology at The University of Auckland.
