Dr Suki Siriwardena is Industrial Research Ltd's new general manager, business development and commercialisation based in Auckland. Siriwardena has a PhD in chemistry and an MBA. Her 20 years of business experience include stints as trade commissioner Indonesia and Taiwan, and an e-commerce business development role. She comes to IRL from the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology where she was director commercialisation.
Sheffield's Auckland office has added capability to its recruitment solutions team in the areas of banking and finance, and sales and marketing. Steve Ignatov, a qualified accountant, will team with Kim Cureen to focus on accounting, banking and finance roles. Both bring substantial knowledge and networks in this sector of recruitment.
Lynne Thorne recently joined Sheffield with broad experience in travel, training and recruitment, and teams up with Fiona MacFadyen to focus on sales and marketing recruitment at the mid to senior management level.
Algae biodiesel developer Aquaflow Bionomic Corporation of Nelson has appointed Des Ashton as a consultant to lead key areas of operational development, in particular aviation projects. Ashton runs his own Blenheim-based aviation consultancy, Ashton Technologies, and was previously CEO of Port Marlborough which oversaw port operations as well as operating Blenheim Airport.
FCm Travel Solutions has appointed Chris Emery and Carrie O'Meara as business development managers.
Emery will be based in FCm Travel Solutions Auckland office. She brings a wealth of business development and account management experience to her role, having most recently worked for Hudson Recruitment, RadioWorks, and TMP Worldwide.
O'Meara will be based in Wellington.
She joins FCm Travel Solutions from Hudson Global Resources, where she was a senior consultant specialising in banking and finance roles.
Corporate law specialist Stephen Layburn has joined the Auckland office of Bell Gully as its newest senior associate. He has considerable experience advising on a broad range of corporate, M&A, private equity and securities markets work. He joins Bell Gully from another national law firm.
Seven employees of law firm Simpson Grierson have recently been made senior associates.
Natasha Alley has been appointed senior associate in Simpson Grierson's commercial litigation team. She specialises in contentious commercial, intellectual property, media and property matters and has been with the firm since 2006.
Stephanie Ambler specialises in trust litigation, relationship property disputes and agreements. Formerly with Brookfields, she has been with Simpson Grierson since late 2006.
Nicholas Bland is a specialist in domestic and international tax law, including income tax, withholding taxes, GST, duties and issues affecting charities and not for profits, he has been with the firm since 2000.
Katherine Burson has been with the firms specialist employment team since 2005. The employment team sits within the firms Litigation Group.
Judith Cheyne specialises in Local Government Act, Building Act and liability issues in the resources and infrastructure group. Operating out of the firm's Christchurch office, she was originally in the litigation team and began with the firm in 1997.
