Phitek Systems Ltd, the electro-acoustic technologies company, has appointed Dr Keith Turner as chairman. Turner was chief executive of Meridian Energy, from early 1999 until March 2008.

The New Zealand Equine Industry Training Organisation has appointed Bruce Howat as its new chief executive. He has considerable experience in industry training including roles as chief executive of Plastics & Materials Processing ITO (PaMPITO) and general manager of Apprentice Training NZ (ATNZ).

ING New Zealand has appointed Jeremy Nicoll as managing director - insurance. He has been with ING NZ for just over 10 years, most recently as managing director - real estate.

Simpson Grierson has welcomed back Joost van Amelsfort as senior associate in its Wellington commercial department. He first joined the firm in 2001 and left in 2004 to take up an opportunity at London 'magic circle' law firm Linklaters, where he specialised in securities issuance and regulatory capital raisings.
