Professor Des Gorman has been appointed as head of the School of Medicine at The University of Auckland's Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. Martin Smith has been appointed Dunedin general manager for The Radio Network. Smith, who takes up his position next month, is currently TRN's provincial group general sales manager. Building Research has announced two new board appointments. Board member Steve Gentry has become chairman and director Graham Coe has been made deputy chairman. Both appointments are effective immediately.
Dr Louise Humpage has been appointed lecturer in social policy at The University of Auckland. She undertake the responsiblity for teaching undergraduate courses on social policy and the welfare state, as well as conducting research into indigenous affairs policy and welfare reform in New Zealand and Australia.
Bruce Cotterill has joined the board of directors of wireless telecommunications provider Woosh Wireless. Cotterill is recognised for his role as chief executive of ACP Media in from 1998 to 2003 and, more recently, as chief executive of sports apparel manufacturer Canterbury International.

Maggie Robertson has been appointed to the new position of chief of corporate services, TelstraClear. Her experience includes working at Xerox in Britain, seven years as a consultant with KPMG and Price Waterhouse, six years with Carter Holt Harvey and four years at Wrightson.
