First Assistance has appointed Wendy Pugh as client services manager. She was previously key account manager for Castles Parcel. Stephen Sylvester has been appointed network manager, responsible for developing and maintaining the firm's network of roadside and property assistance.

Livestock Improvement has employed Daniel Merito as project assistant. He has returned to the organisation after doing his OE. Earlier Merito worked in the artificial breeding operations group. Cameron Marshall has been employed as project manager. For three years he has held roles at the Millennium Institute of Sport. The information division of Livestock Improvement has employed Richard Blennerhassett as farm automation development manager. He returned in February from Brisbane, where he developed software for the beef, dairy and sheep industries.

Michael Harte has been appointed director of information technology services at the University of Otago. Harte is the manager of information systems at the Dunedin City Council and takes up his new position next month.

The University of Auckland Business School department of accounting and finance has appointed Professor Janice How as professor of finance. She was previously associate professor at the School of Economics and Finance, Curtin University of Technology, Perth.
