KEY POINTS:
A Wellington secondary school student is being told to remove his Movember moustache or be banned from NCEA exams.
Scots College principal Graeme Yule says the 18-year-old is breaching the private school's appearance guidelines.
He said the teenager will not be allowed to sit his level three exams if he turns up unshaven.
Movember is a month-long campaign to raise money and awareness of men's health issues.
Mr Yule said people attending the school know they have signed up for certain values and a unique type of education.
He said the student could make arrangements with the Qualifications Authority to sit his exams elsewhere.
