Henderson-based Alloy Yachts, one of the country's best known superyacht builders, has begun work on a new 47-metre flybridge motoryacht in the bay recently vacated by the 58.4-metre Kokomo.
Currently named AY 43, the new motoryacht will again be a collaboration between the award-winning team of Alloy Yachts, Dubois Naval Architects and Donald Starkey Design. This is the same team that created Allogante (now known as Loretta Anne), which won the International Superyacht Society Award for the best 24-40 metre motoryacht in 2009.
Alloy Yachts managing director Tony Hambrook says the AY 43 is the third motoryacht the company has built for the same client.
He says the spacious 47-metre motoryacht, which features four staterooms, an owner's suite, spa pool and gymnasium, is scheduled to be delivered in early 2012.
He says the motoryacht's home port will be in the shallow waters of the Bahamas and it will therefore draw just 2.2 metres.
"It will also feature zero-speed stabilisers to enhance the vessel's suitability for luxurious and comfortable anchoring.
"Another feature is the enclosed flybridge," he says, "where the side windows can be raised and lowered to ensure the comfort of the owner and guests."
The yacht is being built to Lloyd's classification 100 A1 SSC YACHT MONO G6 MCH (<500 gross tonnes) and LY2 and will have a cruising speed of 14.5 knots.
