Two lanes are now open on Auckland's Northern Motorway after a rush-hour crash spilled over the median barrier this morning. But commuters face a long trek from Albany.
Police say two cars crashed about 6.45am and one smashed into the motorway's central wire median barrier.
Both right lanes of the busy motorway heading south and north were blocked south of the Sunset Rd overbridge.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said traffic on the section of motorway was heavier than normal and motorists were warned to avoid the area or delay trips this morning.
