KEY POINTS:
A truck and at least four cars were involved in a crash on Auckland's southern motorway, blocking traffic going into the city during this morning's rush.
Police spokesman Chris Vernon said a truck and trailer unit flipped on the motorway near the Mt Wellington off-ramp city-bound.
The accident happened about 7am and traffic was backed up to south of Takanini.
Mr Vernon said the vehicle crashed through a barrier and landed on the grass below the motorway.
He was unsure how many people have been injured.
Police were advising motorists to take alternative routes into the city.
