Police are searching for the owners of a car who were nearly hit by a fleeing motorcyclist minutes before he died in central Auckland.
Vinal Kavit Naidu, 31, died after the motorcycle he was riding hit a parked car while he was being chased by police on September 25.
Minutes before he died about 1.15am Baidu sped past a police car on the BMW motorbike.
He failed to stop after being indicated to and a pursuit began.
The chase lasted for a few minutes, during which police believe Naidu drove through a red light and nearly hit a car travelling along Mt Albert Rd towards Mt Roskill.
