A motorcyclist is injured after two bikes crashed on Haast Pass in windy conditions this afternoon.
The two motorcycles were involved in the crash, which took place on State Highway 6, Haast Pass-Makarora Rd, at around 2.45pm, Senior Sergeant Brian Benn of the southern district command centre said.
"Ambulance phoned police to advise us there had been a two motorcycle crash at Makarora," he said.
"One person has been taken away by ambulance."
It was quite windy in the region, Mr Benn said, and that "may well have been a factor".
"There's some big gusts coming through."
