Motorcylist, 49, dies in crash north of Wanganui

A 49-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown into the path of an oncoming campervan north of Wanganui, police say.

The crash happened on State Highway 4 near Ruakawa Falls, between Raetihi and Wanganui, about 3pm yesterday, central district police communications manager Kim Perks said.

The man died at the scene and the road was reduced to one lane while the serious crash unit investigated.

The man's name has not yet been released.
