Police investigating the death of a teenager after two motorcycles collided say neither bikes had lights on during the after dark crash.
An 18-year-old Te Puke farm manager was killed when the two machines, believed to have been travelling in opposite directions, collided head-on. His name has not yet been released
The other 17-year-old rider is Tauranga Hospital with serious leg injuries after the smash, in Collins Lane, Te Puke, at 9.15pm yesterday.
Greerton police said preliminary investigations indicated the bikes were not equipped with or displaying any lights and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
