Video footage has emerged of a motorcyclist's wild ride across almost the entire length of the Auckland Harbour Bridge on the rear wheel of a bike.
The clip, which was captured during a sunrise, attracted more than 1000 views since being shared on Instagram this morning. It has since been removed.
The NZ Transport Agency has condemned the motorcyclist's behaviour and police are investigating.
The identity of the daredevil motorcyclist, clad in only a black T-shirt, light blue jeans and black sneakers, remains a mystery, but it appears the bike is a Harley Davidson.
NZTA, which operates the Auckland Harbour Bridge, condemned the motorcyclist's behaviour.
"It poses a huge safety risk for the motorcyclist and all other road users. It is reckless and dangerous and we'll support the police in any way to identify the person or persons involved," said Auckland Transport operations manager Rua Paul.
"We have video of all those involved and will pass it on to police."
"The behaviour of this motorcyclist is extremely dangerous and could have fatal consequences," said Waitemata Sergeant Richard Byrne.
"It shows a complete lack of regard for their own safety and the safety of others."
The footage was posted on Instagram this morning.
People who witnessed dangerous behaviour on the roads should contact police, he said.
Byrne said anyone who had information about the motorbike stunt should call police on (09) 477 5000 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
The Herald has also contacted the AA for comment regarding the video.
The video comes as the road toll continues to climb.
It stands at 112 after a motorcyclist was killed after a collision with a truck in Mt Maunganui this morning. At the same time last year, 95 people had been killed on New Zealand roads.
Yesterday, the sole occupant of a car that crashed on SH5, near the Waikato settlement of Tirau, died, in the second fatal crash in Waikato in two days.
On Thursday, Karapiro man Gregory William Brown, 43, died when the ute he was driving collided with a truck on Tirau Rd, Karapiro, just before 4.30am.
One person was also killed after a two-car crash in Botany, east Auckland on Thursday afternoon.
Yvarn Manaia Te Pania, 24, and James Alexander Hamiora, 26, died on Monday after the Subaru they were in crashed with a people-mover driven by an American tourist on SH10 in Northland.
