A motorcyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash with a car in central Christchurch this evening.
Police and ambulance were called to the crash which happened just before 6:30pm at the intersection of Brougham and Selwyn Sts.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with critical injuries, police said in a statement.
Traffic has been reduced to one lane in some locations near the scene, and motorists are being asked to drive through the area with care, police said.
Transport for Christchurch said Brougham St was closed to westbound traffic from Strickland St.
