A motorcyclist killed in a crash on the West Coast yesterday has been named by police.
Steven Wayne Nottingham, 59, of Christchurch, was heading toward Haast on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when it collided with a campervan on a winding section of State Highway 6 near Grave Creek, about 1km south of Knights Point.
Tasman police communication manager Barbara Dunn said the serious crash unit was still at the scene and police would not speculate on the cause of the crash.
"At the moment there is no information to suggest the campervan crossed the centreline, causing the crash," Mrs Dunn said.
A family group of three New Zealanders was travelling in the campervan, which was heading north.
