The motorcyclist killed when he collided with a ute in Marlborough yesterday has been named by police.
Wellington man Kenneth Gordon Lilley, 54, died when he lost control and crossed the centreline on State Highway 6 at Okaramio, 17km south of Havelock, about 5.15pm
He was travelling behind another vehicle which slowed down, forcing him to brake heavily to avoid hitting it, Tasman police spokeswoman Barbara Dunn said
"As a result he has veered right and into the path of an oncoming vehicle," she said.
The weather conditions were fine at the time and the Serious Crash Unit was investigating the incident, she said.
No one else was injured and the death has been referred to the coroner.
