Motorcyclist killed in crash

A 52-year-old man is dead after his motorcycle and a car collided at Leithfield, 42km north of Christchurch.

Senior Constable Arnold Hooykaas said the crash happened about 12.30pm, on the corner of State Highway 1 and Ashworths Beach Road.

The family of four in the car were "generally okay", although the driver injured his arm.

The dead man's name would be released tomorrow, Mr Hooykaas said.
