KEY POINTS:
A motorcyclist killed in a crash in Northland at the weekend had been riding with a group.
Guy Lawrence Cole, 51, crashed off his Harley Davidson after failing to take a sharp right hand corner on Kokopu Rd, a rural road west of Whangarei, about 3pm on Saturday.
His fellow riders tried desperately to resuscitate him, but he could not be revived.
His pillion passenger, a 38-year-old woman, had been helicoptered to Whangarei Hospital where she was in a serious but stable condition with chest injuries.
Mr Cole had been riding second in the group with the others following about 70m behind, Whangarei police Sergeant Howard Clement told the Northern Advocate.
