A male motorcyclist was seriously injured in Auckland last night after being pursued by police and colliding with a patrol car.
The man was pursued for four minutes before the collision with the car on Curran St in Ponsonby at 11.30pm, police said.
Inspector Darroch Todd said the patrol car was travelling in the opposite direction to the Ducati and was not part of the pursuit.
Mr Todd would not say what speed the pursuit reached.
The motorcyclist, who was in his mid-40s, was taken to Auckland Hospital.
The police complaints authority would investigate the crash.
