Motorcyclist in Upper Hutt crash dies

A motorcyclist who crashed into a power pole in Upper Hutt today has died.

The crash happened on Fergusson Drive, near St Patrick's College, about 2.20pm.

The road was closed for a time as the police serious crash unit was on the scene. It is now investigating the cause.

The motorcyclist was the bike's sole occupant and no other vehicles were involved, a police spokesman said.
