A seriously injured man was flown to Wellington Hospital after a crash involving two cars and a motorcycle on the Kapiti Coast this afternoon.
The crash happened at Otaihanga shortly before 4pm.
When the Wellington-based Westpac rescue helicopter arrived at the scene paramedics were already treating a 38-year-old Paraparaumu man who had been riding a motorcycle which was involved in the collision.
"By chance we had some training occurring at base so we were able to respond with two paramedics and a doctor," said helicopter crewman Dave Greenberg.
The man was suffering from multiple injuries, including serious leg injuries.
Police were tonight piecing together what had happened.
