Motorcyclist dies on Rimutaka Hill Rd

A motorcyclist has died in a motorcycle versus car collision on the Rimutaka Hill Rd near Featherston around 7.30pm yesterday evening.
Watched by distraught motorcyclists, paramedics and Featherston fire crew performed CPR on the man for forty minutes, joined by crew from Life Flight Trust's Westpac rescue helicopter.
He died at the scene.
Police communications say the victim is a 37-year-old male from Paraparaumu.
His name has not yet been released.
The male driver of the vehicle was unhurt but in shock.
The crash closed the Rimutaka Road for over three hours.
