KEY POINTS:
A 49-year-old Paraparaumu motorcyclist died today in a collision in the Kapiti Coast town.
Sergeant Ron Walker said the man was travelling south on Marine Parade when his bike collided with a northbound ute turning right.
The motorcyclist died at the scene.
The area is a 50km/h zone and Mr Walker said there was no indication that either party had been travelling over that speed.
The 59-year-old ute driver was shocked but neither he or his passenger were injured, Mr Walker said.
The road was closed and traffic was diverted for three hours.
Mr Walker said police did not expect to release the dead man's name until tomorrow.
