Motorcyclist dies in Hawke's Bay crash

A motorcyclist is dead after a collision with a car in a remote part of southern Hawkes Bay this afternoon.

Police and emergency services were called to the crash about 9km west of Herbertville, roughly 46km southeast of Dannevirke, at 12.15pm, Inspector Paul Jermy, of police central communications, said.

Few details were known due to difficulties communicating with staff in the remote area.

The police serious crash unit was on its way to the scene, Mr Jermy said.
