Motorcyclist dies following collision with digger

A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a digger in Tauranga overnight.

The crash occurred on Matapehi Rd, in Matapehi, around 2.20am, police said.

The biker died instantly at the scene after crashing into the digger, which was parked on the side of the road, police said.

The serious crash unit is investigating.
