KEY POINTS:
A motorcyclist died after hitting a power pole in Wanganui early this morning.
Police communications said the man was dead when emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident on Anzac Avenue on State Highway 4.
The incident happened about 2.40am, near the intersection with Georgetti Rd.
Diversions were put in place, and the road was expected to reopen at 5am.
