KEY POINTS:
A motorcyclist is dead after a crash near the top of the Coromandel Peninsula yesterday.
Waikato police said Scott Allan McIsaac, 36, of Taradale, Napier suffered serious injuries after losing control of his BMW motorbike as it crossed a wooden bridge on the Port Jackson Rd about 9.40am.
Weather at the time of the crash was described as poor with heavy rain and cross winds.
Treated at the scene by St John ambulance staff and a local doctor he was flown to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition but died in flight.
The Waikato Serious Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
His death has been referred to the Coroner.
