At least one person was seriously injured after a car and a motorcycle collided in southern Hawke's Bay this morning.
State Highway 2 has been closed following the crash about 5km south of Dannevirke following the crash about 9am, Inspector Peter Stokes of the Police central communications centre said.
The motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital by the Square Trust Rescue Helicopter with what appeared to be moderate injuries.
A helicopter trust spokesman said the southbound motorcyclist appeared to have been clipped by a car going in the same direction when using a passing lane and knocked the motorcyclist to the ground.
The motorcycle travelled some way up the road and collided with a northbound car. The spokesman believed nobody else was injured. No other details were available.
