Police have named the motorcyclist who died in a crash near Te Kaha on Saturday.
He was 38 year-old Don Henry Turei Junior from Tawera.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash that happened on State Highway 35 opposite the Raukokore Marae about 2.40pm.
Mr Turei and his brother, who was travelling on another motorbike, had left a family wedding at Raukokore Church and were on their way to the wedding reception when the crash happened.
Bay of Plenty Field Crime Manager Detective Inspector Lew Warner said they believed Mr Turei was hit by a white Honda Odyssey-type van which immediately left the scene of the crash.
Police continue to appeal for sightings of that vehicle driving in the area around 2-3pm.
They would also like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or anyone who believes they may have information that would help with the investigation.
