Police have named the motorcyclist who died in a fatal crash on the Brynderwyn Hills, south of Whangarei, yesterday morning.
He was Jack Mervyn Barnes, aged 72, of Hamilton.
The crash, involving a car and a motorcycle, was reported at 7.30am and occurred on the southern side, just short of the summit, police said.
Mr Barnes died at the scene.
