Motorbike crash victim named

A man has died after an off-road motorbike crash near Christchurch.

Ian George Gillon, 46, of Christchurch crashed his motorbike during a fundraising event on Selwyn Plantation Board land during the weekend.

He was taken to Christchurch Hospital but died in the early hours of this morning.

Mr Gillon's death has been referred to the coroner.
