KEY POINTS:
A mother who killed her young daughter in a motor scooter accident was convicted and disqualified from driving for two years. Tisian Claire Kereama, 22, pleaded guilty last month to a charge of careless driving causing death. Judge Raoul Neave said it was "blindingly obvious" that the penalty she bore from the accident was far greater than anything the court could impose.
The 2-year-old toddler was standing aboard the scooter as Kereama drove it along the driveway of a house in busy Ferry Rd, Christchurch.
She lost control of the scooter at the roadside and the child was thrown underneath a passing truck. She died soon afterwards.
