KEY POINTS:
Police have named the mother of two who died in a head-on car collision this morning in Taupaki, 6km south of Kumeu.
She was Melanie Anne Blakebrough, 38, of Massey in West Auckland.
Police spokesman Kevin Loughlin said two cars were involved in the collision on Cottle Road about 8.55am.
Ms Blakebrough died at the scene and her two children, a nine-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, were both in Starship Hospital with moderate injuries.
The driver of a second vehicle, an Isuzu 4WD, was taken to Waitakere hospital with moderate injuries.
Her three children a boy aged nine, and two girls aged seven and 10 years old, were taken to hospital with moderate injuries , Mr Loughlin said.
Serious Crash Unit was investigating the incident.
